A Visitor's Guide to Nokt: Special Rules: Character Creation and House Rules
The Nokt, Nokt campaign uses the following "house rules" when creating a character:
- Ability scores are generated by rolling 5d6 for each stat, and keeping the best three dice out of those five. Arrange your stats in any order you wish. Nokt, Nokt is a heroic-level campaign, and weak characters are not a good idea.
- When calculating hit points, take the maximum amount per level, plus your Constitution bonus. Example: A rogue would take 6 + Con bonus for each level.
- If you provide a good backstory for your character, you gain four bonus skill points to be used in a way that compliments your backstory. These skill points should be used in an appropriate, career-type skill (something that could provide a living for your character, if s/he was not an adventurer).
- All characters are assumed to be residents of Nokt, or from the immediate area. As such, each character has four NPC contacts of up to minor importance in Nokt itself. Work with the DM on the details of these contacts. They will prove useful throughout the campaign, so choose wisely.
- If you wish to play a character not from Nokt, you do not gain the four contacts as above. Rather, you have a "free" Masterwork item. Details of this item should be worked out with the DM.
- The "official" ruleset for the Nokt, Nokt campaign are the 3.5 Edition "Open Content" D&D rules. If you do not have these rules, or simply want a quick online reference site, visit the d20 Online SRD Site. It's fantastic!
