A Visitor's Guide to Nokt: Old Town: Town Hall

The town hall is located just south of the Mayor’s Castle, and is where the Mayor of Nokt holds court when hearing issues and cases brought forth by residents and visitors. Commonly, the Mayor isn’t the one to hear the cases directly, instead allowing appointees to hear the cases.

The town hall is also used as a banquet hall for important events and visitors from time to time, and has the capacity to seat and serve about two hundred people.

Grandiose in construction and appearance, the Town Hall has had to be rebuilt two times thus far in its history, with each rebuilding taking full advantage of new building techniques and styles. The first rebuilding took place shortly after Nokt was founded, before the stone wall could be fully erected around Old Town – raiders sacked and looted roughly half of the newly founded city, destroying several prominent buildings in addition to the Town Hall. The second rebuilding occurred after the Illithid War, and was due to a Foerlian Skyship crashing into the Hall in the midst of a heated battle.

Immediately outside the town hall is a large statue (forty feet in height) of the former mayor of Nokt, Draven the Bold. Draven is considered the driving force behind the events that eventually led to Nokt’s independence and the Illithid War. The statue depicts Draven standing erect, facing the east with his arms outstretched – symbolically embracing the bugbear tribes that he loves so dearly.
