A Visitor's Guide to Nokt: Old Town: Timmay's Haunted Warehouse
As the Great Illithid War opened, there was a rather troublesome smuggler/information/arms dealer in Nokt who went by the name of “Timmay.” Timmay was a member of the group that eventually became the Heroes of Nokt (which included the likes of Alaric the Twice-Dead, Tybbaal the Slayer, Kieran the Perturbed, and Azriel Half-Demon). Unfortunately for Timmay, many of his side deals and arrangements began to fall apart as things came together for his companions. Caught between the town of Nokt and the Mind Flayers he was in cahoots with, Draven dispatched his new Captain of the Guard, Alaric, to deal with this rogue.
As Timmay plotted and schemed from within his warehouse-fortress in Old Town Nokt, his former adventuring companions surrounded the grounds and began to move in. Though the group had no trouble entering the warehouse, their final confrontation with Timmay and his cohorts ended with the complete destruction of the warehouse – the stockpiled gunpowder and ammunition that Timmay was banking on in the upcoming war was ignited, blowing the warehouse (and all within) into the great beyond.
In addition to Timmay and his crew, Alaric was caught full-blast by the explosion, and his lifeless corpse was thrown into the nearby ocean (along with a hail of debris from the explosion). His comrades needed him so much for the upcoming war that they fished Alaric out of the ocean and managed to get life restored to his crisped body, which was then regenerated into perfect shape.
Timmay wasn’t so lucky. His body was never found, and it is commonly assumed that he was incinerated in the blast. Nothing from the warehouse survived, either, and all that weaponry and stolen goods were lost forever.
Twenty years later, no one has purchased the old warehouse and rebuilt it, however. The site is haunted, or so the locals claim, and none want to tempt fate – or the anger of Timmay’s Ghost, which is rumored to drive off all that enter the grounds after dark. Even the rumors of secret tunnels and hidden treasure hidden beneath the ruins of the warehouse can’t bring the locals to explore further; local adventurers have better things to do, and the Town Guard really can’t be bothered to pursue the foolhardy below the levels of Nokt’s streets… especially since most never return.
