A Visitor's Guide to Nokt: Old Town: The Temple of Karnin

Built out of two converted warehouses, the now-lavish Temple of Karnin is a monument to commerce in all its success. Where Market Square is busy at all hours of the day, the Temple of Karnin is downright packed with people looking to make money in one form or another. With separate floors for services, goods, and knowledge, just about anything one could want can be found in the Temple.

Prices in the Temple are higher than in Market Square, and for one simple reason: the priests of Karnin take 10% of every sale as a tax for the privilege of doing business in their temple. This is a tax that many buyers are willing to pay, however, as the priests of Karnin also ensure that the item purchased is genuine, without flaws or trickery – to pass such an item in the Temple is to find oneself (and associates, if business partners) banned from selling in not only the Temple, but in Old Town. Such is the power of commerce!
