A Visitor's Guide to Nokt: Old Town: The Mayor's Castle

The oldest and largest structure in Old Town Nokt, the Mayor’s Castle occupies the highest point of ground, and dominates the skyline of the city – the castle’s bailey is over one hundred feet in height and two hundred feet in diameter. The bailey houses the mayor’s secondary, or working, residence (his main residence is the Mayor’s Mansion, officially a part of MidTown Nokt, and outside the Old Town Wall).

With outer walls that are twenty feet thick and magically strengthened, the Mayor’s Castle is almost impervious to physical attack. As demonstrated during the Illithid War, “traditional” fortifications have proved inadequate against foes who can attack from the sky or shift in from other dimensions – and the current mayor, Azzure, has made it a priority to remedy this weakness.

Other official residences within the Castle walls include no less than six advisors, the mayor’s personal wizard, a small harem, and Azzure’s favorite person in Nokt, his animal trainer Byallen – who has personally trained several different mounts for Azzure, including a Hippogriff and a Dragon Turtle!
