A Visitor's Guide to Nokt: Old Town: The Docks

Old Town is the only section of Nokt where the sands have been cleared from the beaches, and docks built. These docks are tightly controlled, and are used only for trade and shipping. There are seven docks in Old Town Nokt; the center one is attached to the Mayor’s Castle and is for official business only (it is heavily guarded, too, to prevent unauthorized use).

The remaining docks are split evenly to the north and the south of the Mayor’s Dock, and each dock cluster ends right near a group of warehouses, ready to accept the newly-unloaded goods – unless, of course, those goods are headed right to the Central Market.

Each dock is a massive piece of construction, built out of stone and about forty feet wide (though their lengths vary just a bit; the average, though, is three hundred feet). At high tide, the surface of the docks is about three feet above the waterline; easily twice that at low tide.

In the last couple of years, The Inked Family has begun to try and muscle their way in to the action on the waterfront. Though they may have been very successful in Taggartia with their strategies and motivations, the docks in Nokt are administered by Disciples of Karnin, and they allow nothing to interfere with their cut of commerce. Though things have not turned into open hostilities between The Inked Family and the Disciples of Karnin – yet – there are those who feel this is just a matter of time.
